BACKGROUND
This week’s show is a bit of a departure for me in that it features only instrumental music (hence the title). I also included a clip from the podictionary podcast about weather, since we’ve had a wacky week of weather here in southwest Ohio.

SHOW BREAKDOWN
“Clouds or Smoke” – Derek K. Miller
AUDIO CLIP – “weather” – Podictionary podcast (Thanks, Charles, for letting me play it!)
“Noise” – dreamfresh
“Galapagos” – Scott Helm
“Raining Colors” – Torchomatic
“Leaving” – 2-RD

Be sure to stick around for some silliness at the very end!

Thanks for listening!

Types of Bras – JOKE ALERT!

A man walked into the ladies department of a Macy’s and shyly walked up to the woman behind the counter and said, “I’d like to buy a bra for my wife. “What type of bra?” asked the clerk. “Type?” inquires the man, “There’s more than one type?”

“Look around,” said the saleslady, as she showed a sea of bras in every shape, size, colour and material imaginable. “Actually, even with all of this variety, there are really only four types of bras to choose from.”

Relieved, the man asked about the types.

The saleslady replied “There are the Catholic, the Salvation Army, the Presbyterian, and the Baptist types. Which one would you prefer?

Now totally befuddled, the man asked about the differences between them. The Saleslady responded, “It is all really quite simple …

  • The Catholic type supports the masses,
  • The Salvation Army type lifts the fallen,
  • The Presbyterian type keeps them staunch and upright, and
  • The Baptist makes mountains out of mole hills.

Hot Wings

Mood: hot, teary
Listening to: audio from a Deaf/Hard of Hearing conference we attended last weekend
Eating: Hot wings from Buffalo Wild Wings

Jennie brought home some Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch. OMG! The flavors she brought home were

  • mango habanera
  • asian zing
  • spicy garlic
  • blazin’

When Jennie called to ask how hot I wanted the wings, I told her I was willing to go as hot as we could go, even to burning another hole. What I meant by that was that, if it’s hot going in, chances are it’s going to be hot coming back out.

I’m reminded of when we lived in Dayton. We lived really close to this restaurant called B.C. Rooster’s. One of the flavors they had was called “donkey”. It was really spicy – in fact, it was about the hottest we could handle.

It wasn’t until we sat down to eat the blazin’ ones that I understood what was potentially meant by the term “donkey” (think of synonyms).

So, we opted for a bit of – dare I say – “fun” self-punishment.

Update: It’s been several hours, and I’ve been “punished” again, if you know what I mean.

Subscribe to the Podcast via iTunes

Mood: deliberate
Listening to: podcast411 – interview with Top of the Pods podcast
Eating: Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds, milk
Weather: NOW- Mostly Cloudy, 37 F; TODAY- Mostly Cloudy, 48 F; TONIGHT- MOSTLY CLOUDY AND COLD, 30 F

The snow from two days ago has been melting. It reminds us of Narnia, from the movie “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”. Aslan must be coming, lol! ;)

Anyhow, I just heard the tech tip on podcast411, in which Apple has posted a page with some tips for podcast lovers.

Snow on the First Full Day of Spring 2006

Mood: good
Listening to: traffic, weather and more on WMOJ Mojo 94.9 FM Cincinnati
Reading: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (“The Writing on the Wall”)
Eating: Krispy Kreme Donuts, black Folgers coffee
Watching: snow coming down outside our apartment building

The calendar says it’s spring, but outside we’ve had a blast of cold weather, including snow and ice.

The radio reports that my route to work in Dayton, at least in the Cincinnati area, has an accident. Don’t know about the Dayton area. I’m thinking of making the trek anyway.

Keisha’s school is on a 2-hour delay, so I’m not that eager to leave just yet. But I need to. Soon. I might take a picture and post it here later.

Back from Columbus

Mood: tired
Listening to: 11 o’clock news
Eating: Frisch’s Big Boy
Watching: Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy

We’re back home, but we’re all tired. Except Zoe, maybe, since she had the apartment to herself this weekend.

This afternoon, I lay down on the bed, browsing this book, and, before I knew it, I was asleep.

Jennie and Keisha have nodded off too.

Gotta finish loading up the iRiver for the morning, and I’m off to bed myself.

P.S. Got a lot of audio to go through. Hopefully it will be good enough to put on the podcast.

BACKGROUND
It’s been a frustrating week so far for me, dealing with work hassles and waiting to feel the full benefit of the lumbar injection I got last week, if it indeed does come. Feeling really uncomfortable right now.

Thanks so much, by the way to all of you who are keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. I was cheered from hearing Jon, the Official Cheesehead, from the Tanfastic podcast, mention me in his last show. I have the best listeners!

So, for this week’s podcast, I chose some music to lift my spirit up. Hopefully it’ll do the same for you.

I mentioned earlier this week that we’re going to Columbus this weekend (Tom’s neck of the woods!) for a conference for families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing. I hope to get some audio from the conference and be able to share it with you. Maybe not so much from the speakers or other people we’ll meet as audio from us. This is really the first time we’ve all gotten away from home together in awhile, so it’s like a mini-vacation for us.

I’ve been in touch with Rich Palmer of Audio Gumshoe, who recently won the signed Brother Love CD. I’m definitely looking forward to getting together so we can chat about podcasting and other stuff. And give him the CD in person. :D

Speaking of Brother Love, I so wish I could get to New York City on April 6th, because he’ll be playing at Arlene’s Grocery on 95 Stanton Street. Also, he’s actively working on putting together a music video for “Summertime”, which I played back on JIMM 36. If you have any short digital video clips of your summertime memories, he wants you to send it to him at brotherlove [at] brotherloverocks [dot] com before Noon on April 15, 2006.

Navigating Your Child’s Future

Jennie, Keisha, and I will be attending the Navigating Your Child’s Future conference this coming weekend.

Jennie and I attended one of these a few years ago. It will be interesting to get a little bit of audio from this and share it with Journey Inside My Mind listeners. Maybe a soundseeing tour or some interviews or something like that.

Keisha is jazzed about going to Columbus and spending a couple of nights in a hotel.
